If you're not having trouble losing weight - skip this section. Some types of diabetics need more calories than the Fat Fast provides. Check with your doctor before proceeding!
Now I know this sounds ridiculous - but if you can't get into Ketosis (burning fat for energy), a few days on this program may do the trick. Originally developed by British researchers Alan Kekwick and Gaston Pewan, Frederick Benoit and his team actually confirmed it works better than a 100% "fast".
Like I've mentioned before - people react differently to different situations. Some people are so metabolically resistant that only very intense programs are successful.
On this program, you’ll consume 75% to 90% fat on a 1000 calorie-per-day regimen. This is another safe, drug-free way of losing weight quickly.
But - this is actually dangerous for anyone who isn't metabolically resistant. If you lose weight fairly easily, you'll burn fat too fast. How can you burn fat too fast? Think of your heart. Your heart is pumping at a specific-rate for your body weight.
If you lose weight too quickly, your heart wont be able to keep-up with the changes and can actually work harder than it needs to. It's important not to lose weight too quickly. So if you're doing okay on the low carbohydrate diet - skip this section.
This program forces the body into lipolysis to burn stored fat. As you know, all carbohydrates convert to sugar. And as I mentioned above, even some protein converts to sugar. If the body has a plentiful source of this glucose, lipolysis cannot take place.
By eliminating everything BUT fat - which cannot possibly turn into sugar - you're forced into lipolysis. At the same time, by lowering your caloric intake, your body finds it even more important to start burning fat for energy.
Spread out 5, 200 calorie meals every 4 hours. The high amount of fat and frequent meals will curb hunger more efficiently. This may not have been the system you were dreaming about - but you should only need this for a few days. This few days can change everything...
Following are some examples of approximately 200 calorie meals:
2 deviled eggs with two teaspoons of mayonnaise
2 hard-boiled egg yolks with one tablespoon of mayonnaise
1 ounce of macadamia nuts
2 ounces of cream cheese or Brie
2 1/2 ounces of heavy whipped cream with Sucralose
1 ounce of tuna fish or chicken salad with 2 teaspoons of mayonnaise
Drink plenty of water with these small meals and you should be able to fight-off hunger.
After a few days, you should be losing weight. At this point, increase your calories to 1200 per day. Try 4 meals per day at 300 calories each.
Following are some examples of approximately 300 calorie meals:
1 1/4 cub of tunafish or chicken salad with 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise
1 1/2 ounces of macadamia nuts
2 scrambled eggs with 2 strips of **nitrate-free bacon
2 ounces of beef chuck (don't drain the fat) cooked in 2 tablespoons of olive oil
2 tablespoons of heavy sour cream
** If you can't find nitrate-free bacon at your local grocery store, you can make your own. Soak it in warm water for 2 hours in your refrigerator. After 2 hours, strain it with a colander, rinse it under the tap with cold water, then put it into a zip lock bag until ready to use.
Fry as usual, or microwave it - however you would normally cook it. The nitrates are mostly gone - washed away with the water. Sodium Nitrate gets used often in cured meats and can cause you to retain water.
Like I mentioned - this probably isn't your dream program - but if you're one of those rare people that has trouble burning fat on a low carbohydrate diet - this can work. Drastic measures for drastic circumstances. This part of the program should only last about a week. After a week, start-over and follow the directions for the first two weeks.
